When should you pay your business BAS?
Avoid penalties with this simple checklist
If you run a business, you will know that Business Activity Statements (BAS) are an essential part of staying compliant with the ATO. But between the day-to-day running of your business, it’s all too easy to let BAS deadlines slip and that can mean costly penalties.
Here’s a simple checklist to keep you on track:
✅ Know your due dates – Most businesses lodge BAS quarterly, but some report monthly. Mark your deadlines clearly in your calendar.
✅ Keep your accounts up to date – Regularly reconciling your bank accounts means you won’t be rushing at the last minute.
✅ Track GST and PAYG properly – Make sure GST on sales and purchases are recorded correctly, and PAYG withholding for employees is accurate.
✅ Work with a BAS agent – As registered BAS agents, we ensure everything is prepared, lodged, and paid on time.
💡 Tip: Even if you can’t pay in full, lodging on time avoids bigger penalties. You can always arrange a payment plan with the ATO.
At i2 Bookkeeping, we take the stress out of BAS lodgements so you can focus on running your business — not chasing due dates.
